After the ticket bounced, an anonymous employee of Rockstar broke the news: The company is unscrupulously suppressing un

An anonymous employee from Rockstar revealed the studio's current difficulties through the "GTA" forum.

This week has been particularly difficult for the gaming giant - its highly anticipated "GTA 6" was suddenly postponed to November 19, 2026.

Last week, the company laid off about 30 to 40 employees in its offices in Scotland and Canada, a move it accused of "suppressing unions."

But a studio spokesperson insisted in a statement that the employees were fired for leaking company secrets in a public forum. It was later confirmed that the activist workers belonged to a private Discord group that union organizers also had access to.

The incident sparked protests outside Rockstar's Northern Studios in Edinburgh and Take-Two's offices in London yesterday.

Now, an anonymous employee has further disclosed the situation through the "GTA" forum.

The following is the complete and unedited original text of the revelation:

Hello everyone, I am an employee who has worked at Rockstar for many years!

Understandably, I wish to remain anonymous due to fear of corporate retaliation, but I am willing to verify my employee status via private message with @Spider-Vice if necessary.I am also a trade union member.

I've seen a lot of discussion on forums and elsewhere about the dismissal of more than 34 colleagues last week (31 in the UK + 3 in Canada), and I've seen a lot of worrying disinformation and lies - especially how many people are willing to believe the company's excuses, which is very disturbing to me.

Last week, colleagues across the studio received private messages from HR inviting them to a brief “friendly meeting” with the line “Hey, are you free to chat for a few minutes?”

But upon arriving at the meeting, they received an envelope with a text message inside stating that their employment contract had been terminated due to "serious misconduct" related to the content posted on Discord.

When asked to provide evidence, the other party could not produce it and there was no explanation in the text message. They declined to disclose any other information or reasons, stressing only that "there is no other reason."

They also deprived employees of their right to have union representatives present at disciplinary hearings (a breach of UK labor law), and the employees were forcibly removed from the studio within five minutes of the entire meeting.

For colleagues who were not in the studio that day, they received a call from the human resources department in less than 2 minutes and were informed that they had been fired. They would then receive the same text message as mentioned above.I know of an employee who had a panic attack while on the phone, but HR just hung up on him with no regard for his physical or mental health.

These colleagues are all hard-working practitioners who have held key positions at Rockstar for many years—some of whom have been there for more than 18 years without ever receiving any disciplinary action. They are difficult to replace, which will undoubtedly impact our project deadlines.

Among them are senior artists, animators, quality testers, designers, programmers and producers, and even department heads.Everyone is extremely talented and proud of many Rockstar products. Everything they do is for the good of Rockstar and the colleagues around them.

Some of them were on sick leave, recovery from surgery or paternity leave when they were fired without pay. Some people may even lose their work visa in the UK if they lose their jobs and find themselves in dire straits on Christmas Eve.

I must make it clear!I have never seen any discussion or leaks about the Rockstar project in the Guild Discord group. The only topics in the group were union formation and working conditions at Rockstar. This Discord is not public, but a private group limited to Rockstar employees and IWGB union officials.

This is purely about suppressing trade unions and nothing else! All those sacked were union members, and mainly members of the organizing committees of the unions at studios across the UK.

Just a week ago, the union's membership had grown to about 200, surpassing the 10% threshold required for companies to recognize the union and initiate collective bargaining. This means we can negotiate directly with management on key issues that affect our immediate interests: increasing overtime, underpayment, and rigid work arrangements.

Now they've laid off 34 more of us.There were originally over 250 people in that union/employee Discord group. We are worried that if they succeed this time, they will do it again and again without any scruples.

Those of us who were temporarily lucky enough to stay on now work in fear!I am always on tenterhooks when chatting with my colleagues in the tea room, fearing that I will be the next person to be fired easily; I even dare not leave the office and communicate (even just to say hello) with colleagues who are protesting outside, for fear of retaliation.Morale in the studio was at rock bottom - we who should have been excited about what to expect next year were now completely disheartened and our trust in others was completely shattered.

This is the most heartbreaking part: for us as union members, our original intention is just to make Rockstar a happier, fairer, safer, and more equal place, nothing more. But what's happening right now makes it clear that we care more about the well-being of our Rockstar colleagues than the company does.

The union remains unyielding and is using legal means and protests to fight for the reinstatement of all fired employees.

This fight is vital - if Rockstar can get away with this, they will continue to treat their employees with contempt, disrespect and unlawful treatment.

Thank you all for your time and I hope these facts help you understand what is going on here right now.I will not forward this revelation to other forums, but everyone is welcome to spread it freely.

Thank you all!
