Konami announced three new "Silent Hill" games at the same time to prove that the series "does have a fut

In October 2022, Konami held a 'Silent Hill Transmission' live show, at which time three new games were announced - "Silent Hill 2: Remastered", the Japanese-themed "Silent Hill f" and the narrative game "Silent Hill: Townfall".

In addition, the "interactive streaming series" "Silent Hill: Ascension" was announced, with a total of 21 episodes broadcast. Although it won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Innovation in Emerging Media Programs, it was still criticized.

However, "Silent Hill 2: Remastered" and "Silent Hill F" were huge successes and received praise from the media and fans of the series.

"Three years ago, in 2022, we announced three games - "Silent Hill 2", "Silent Hill f" and "Silent Hill: Townfall". We didn't want to announce a remake just to 'test the waters'. We wanted players to feel that we were serious about reviving the series.

There are naturally risks involved in developing a remake and a new game at the same time, but the first thing we want to convey is our determination.Only the announcement of new games can predict the future of a series.

Unless users can feel the future of an IP, they will not take the initiative to contact it.If companies take a wait-and-see approach, so will players. The company needs to show it's serious about it in order to really get users excited.I think that's only fair."

Okamoto also mentioned a previous post he made, in which he stated that Silent Hill 2: Remastered must cater to both existing fans and new players, rather than just attracting those who played the original, as not all fans will return for the remake.

"The situation may be different for anime and games, but with remakes, even if you take old fans into account, at most only about half will return, so that tends to result in a shrinking player base. If you don't design a remake with half new players and half old fans in mind, then the player base isn't going to grow."
