Just two weeks after Remedy issued a profit warning due to weak sales of its first multiplayer game, FBC: Firebreak, CEO Tero Virtala has stepped down from the position, effective immediately.

Remedy explained in a statement to investors that Virtala and the board of directors "have reached an agreement that Tero Virtala will step down as CEO of the company effective immediately."
Virtala was appointed CEO in August 2016. During the transition period, he will "continue to serve the company" and assist the new CEO in completing the handover of responsibilities.
Remedy co-founder Markus Mäki has been named interim CEO until a formal successor is found and will step down as chairman of the board.
Mäki said in a statement: "I would like to thank Tero Virtala for his considerable contribution to the management of Remedy since 2016. I personally thank Tero for the good cooperation and wish him all the best for the future."
