Metroid Prime 2: Echoes Remaster May Be in Development

After years of actual machine demonstrations and warm-up, Nintendo finally confirmed that "Metroid Prime 4" will be officially released in December this year. This work was announced as early as 2017, and the development cycle lasted eight years - during which Nintendo even completely overturned it in 2019, which shows the long production process.

In fact, Nintendo has paid significantly more attention to the Metroid series in recent years.A game was released in 2021 and a Metroid Prime remake was released two years ago.If the rumors are true, the second entry in the series may also get a remaster soon.

In the recently published setting collection "Metroid Prime 1-3: Visual Review", series senior producer Kensuke Tanabe hinted at the work that "Metroid Prime 2: Echoes" may be considering a remake.

Kensuke Tanabe wrote in the book: "I would be very happy if "Prime 2" could be remastered - that means more players can experience this work."

Tanabe also mentioned the controversial multiplayer mode back then.He admitted that since it only supports local online play, very few players have actually played this part of the game, so he hopes to allow more fans to experience "more complete multiplayer gameplay" in the future.

Rumors about a remake of the 2004 original have long been heard, but Nintendo has never responded positively. However, as a veteran who has been at the helm of the "Metroid" series for 23 years, Kensuke Tanabe's hint is obviously more worthy of attention than any rumors.

Back then, "Metroid Prime 2" was hailed as a series classic for its solid level design and dual-world structure, but its multiplayer mode received mediocre reviews and became one of the few regrets. Now it seems that Tanabe may be planning to remake this old work to bring it back to players in a more perfect manner.
