Borderlands 4 players can expect a number of key fixes and gameplay improvements soon, according to a series of announcements posted on social media by the game's creative director Graeme Timmins.Timmins directly responded to player concerns on social media platforms, admitting that the game has multiple technical and balancing issues, including loss of SDU points, abnormal item sorting, and overall performance stability issues. His comments provide a much-needed explanation of solutions amid growing dissatisfaction among players since the game's release.

One of the most serious problems reported by the community is the loss of all SDU points and specialization points of players, resulting in the inability to use some characters normally. In this regard, Timmins confirmed that the development team is actively investigating: "We are looking into this issue." He recommended that players submit detailed customer service tickets to help locate the source of the fault. In a follow-up update, he assured: "We are confident that we will be able to detect characters in an abnormal state through code and run a fix to restore points in a future patch."

In addition to technical issues, Timmins revealed that multiple gameplay and experience optimizations are being developed.Inventory sorting preferences will soon enable saving by inventory category, responding to longstanding player dissatisfaction with the current default system.Regarding the absence of the weapon charm function, he explained that this feature has been redesigned into an "Echo-4" accessory system with more visual impact and gameplay value.Faced with players' complaints about the sorting system, he responded humorously: "I am ready for a ten-round battle. The sorting settings will be saved as inventory in subsequent major updates."
The creative director confirmed that there will be a "small update this week, and a larger update next week," with the upcoming patch bringing balance adjustments to specific gear and fixing unexpected gameplay interactions. He stressed: "Performance and stability are the highest priority, but not all updates will contain relevant major changes. Small updates like today allow us to respond quickly to community feedback, while large updates will contain stability and performance fixes that require more testing."

Timmins emphasized that future balance adjustments are intended to maintain gameplay variety and challenge.Regarding the doubts about the weakening of weapons and skills in single-player games, he explained: "We are designing future content such as 'Invincible' dungeons, hoping that players can gain a sense of challenge and accomplishment. If balance is based on weak equipment, it will weaken the diversity of construction and force players to only use specific equipment combinations."
