Vampire: The Masquerade 2 once again bites at the carotid arteries in a way that's both flawed and unique and remarkable - there's something to love about it and something to hate about it.But at least I did enjoy my time as an ancient vampire.

Comments
If I were to summon my inner Toreador, my relationship with Vampire: The Masquerade 2 would undoubtedly be a complicated love-hate relationship—one that can hardly be summed up in one sentence, or even a number.Sometimes I want to be alone with it and indulge in passion for a moment, and sometimes I want to strangle it.The parts that annoy me contain elements that I love; and the parts that I like the most contain elements that disgust me.
The story the game tells is worth playing, but it severely disappointed me at the end.It does a lot of great work in capturing the experience of being a vampire—every bite, every melee is charming—but it's completely out of focus in key places.
Do I like it? Of course, there's no doubt about it.
Would I recommend it? That's a more complicated question.
But at the end of the day, I feel the same way about the original "The Masquerade," even though the two are fundamentally different works. They are all deeply flawed, yet each is unique and memorable, like a bite into an apple—or, rather, into the carotid artery.
And this, perhaps, is the highest praise I can give it.
