After the success of Capcom's Resident Evil remake, the company is developing more remakes of classics. The most anticipated remakes currently include the acclaimed 2000 spin-off Resident Evil: Code Veronica, which focused on the story of Claire Redfield, and the GameCube prequel Resident Evil 0.
Luckily for fans, both projects have been repeatedly confirmed by reliable sources, meaning we'll be seeing them in the near future. Now foreign media mp1st has exclusively confirmed that "Resident Evil 0: Remake" does exist. They have also obtained the first details of "Resident Evil 0: Remake", including new content in the plot, cast and development progress.

Cast and development progress
The "Resident Evil 0: Remake" project has been in development for several years. The game's development codename is "Chamber," a subtle nod to the last name of protagonist Rebecca Chambers.New voice actors have been cast for multiple protagonists, with dubbing and motion capture beginning sometime in 2024.
One of the new actors is Jon McLaren, who played Star-Lord in the 2021 "Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy" game and also plays a role in "Far Cry 5."The actor's resume confirms this, with "Project Chamber" being one of several projects mentioned in his resume as starring.
In addition, the project is overseen by motion capture company Beyond Capture Studios, which has previously worked with Capcom on games such as Resident Evil 4: Remake and Street Fighter 6.
Considering the actor is the lead on the project, it's likely that Jon McLaren will be playing the original game's co-lead character Billy Coen, alongside Rebecca Chambers.
Given these casting details, it's unlikely that the original voice actors will return, although recasting is a common practice for Resident Evil remakes.

New content in the plot
In terms of plot, the remake is expected to expand on the original work, but the core plot will remain the same, which is another common feature of the remake of "Resident Evil".
Before we continue, we have to warn you about the following minor spoilers. The following examples detail what's new in the remaster, so we've avoided sharing other major storylines that would reveal too much.
One of the new storylines will involve the train part of the game's initial stages, specifically the part about the train conductor. In the original game, the character never appeared and was only mentioned via his office on the train, but in the remake, he will have slightly more of a role.
We further learn that one of the plots involves the conductor asking Rebecca for help in stopping the train from accelerating, but ultimately betraying her by locking her in a horde of zombies while he escapes. We don't see him again until much later in the game - at which point Rebecca finds him talking to another mysterious, unnamed character who seems to have a lot of knowledge of the situation and is clearly important to the plot.
Players who are familiar with the world of the series may have guessed who this mysterious figure is, but they will also realize that these plot elements do not exist in the original work. Therefore, we can expect the remake's story structure to be more cinematic.
Interestingly, even though these details are quite rich, all indications are that we will still be some time away from seeing this remake.
Released in 2028
According to industry insider Dusk Golem’s recent statement, the remake of “Resident Evil: Codename Veronica” will be launched first, with a target release time of the first quarter of 2027, while the remake of “Resident Evil 0” is not expected to be released until 2028.
Fortunately, we will soon welcome the ninth official work in the series, "Resident Evil 9: Requiem". This work is rumored to be the most ambitious work in the series so far, and may bring back an older version of Leon Kennedy.
In addition, it is reported that the reason why Capcom avoids re-releasing the series of classic games is because it hopes that players can experience these contents through the remastered version, because the company believes that the remastered version is a "better experience."
