Ichikawa said that he chose to remake "Dragon Quest 7" at this time because its "unique atmosphere may be more resonant at the moment."He pointed out that the original work in the series is known for its "darkness and sadness", but now such works with a heavy tone have become more common. The team hopes to use modern technology to allow players to have a deeper understanding of the story and the emotions of the characters.
In response to the original game's more than 100 hours of game time, the development team made a number of adjustments in this game to improve the rhythm.Ichikawa revealed that the team allowed players to experience the story more smoothly by "making the stone slabs easier to discover" and "improving the rhythm of combat."While the actual length will still vary depending on player style, he assured that "players who played the original will notice a noticeable improvement in pacing."
Ichikawa confirmed that although the protagonist is dubbed by a voice actor, the voice is only used for shouting in battles and other occasions, and remains "non-speaking" in the plot.He emphasized that the traditional concept of "the protagonist is the player" still continues in this game.
