American singer Lana Del Rey appears to have been given a second chance to record the James Bond theme song, this time for the upcoming video game 007: First Light.

Eagle-eyed fans on Reddit discovered a new song called "First Light" registered to ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) by Del Rey (real name Elizabeth Grant).
While this isn't official confirmation yet, if Lana Del Rey does sing the theme song for the game, it would undoubtedly be a perfect fit. After all, she had composed a song called "24" for the 24th Bond film "Spectre" starring Daniel Craig as early as 2015, but it was ultimately rejected.IGN has contacted IO Interactive for further confirmation.
Last year, Del Rey revealed that she did write songs for the Bond films, but Sam Smith’s Writing’s On the Wall was ultimately chosen.
Del Rey previously said in an interview with the BBC: "I wrote that song for them, Sam, you did a great job. Maybe one day... But I will still do my own 'Nancy Sinatra' style every now and then and pretend it's the Bond theme song."
The Bond series has historically commissioned multiple artists to compose candidate theme songs for each film, and many "lost Bond tracks" have since been revealed. For example, Johnny Cash recorded the theme song for "Thunderball", and Pulp also wrote a version for "Tomorrow Never Dies".
Like Del Rey, Radiohead recorded a song of the same name for Spectre, which they later self-released.
"007: Dawn" is scheduled to be released on March 27, 2026, on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2 platforms.
