At the 2025 Brazilian Game Show held recently, Naoki Hamaguchi, the game director of the "Final Fantasy 7: Remake" trilogy, took the stage to reveal the development concept for the final chapter of the series. He said that the team never considered deleting any story or gameplay content from the first three works because it would disappoint fans who were looking forward to revisiting the original work. This is why the original work was divided into three remakes.
Naoki Hamaguchi said frankly in his speech: "Final Fantasy 7 has a huge fan base. We could have compressed it into one game by deleting content, but fans of the original game would never forgive this approach. If we want to use new technologies to fully present the story, a single work simply cannot accommodate it. So we finally made the difficult decision to divide it into three parts."

Regarding the conclusion of the trilogy, Hamaguchi confirmed that the final chapter will provide a satisfying ending: "I have a clear plan for the ending of the third part of "Final Fantasy 7: Remake." This ending can not only impress the loyal fans who love the original work, but also satisfy the new players who got into the game through the remake. I believe this new work will be loved by everyone."
With "Final Fantasy 7: Remake INTERGRADE" confirmed to be launched on Switch2 and Xbox Series X/S platforms on January 22, 2026, Square Enix has confirmed that it will push the subsequent works of the trilogy to all platforms simultaneously.
