Recently, Nintendo officially announced that it will officially launch Nintendo eShop and Nintendo Switch Online services in Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand on November 18, 2025.This move marks a key step for Nintendo's business in the Southeast Asian market. Through this official service, players from Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand will be able to:

Direct purchase of digital content: Through the Nintendo eShop, players can conveniently purchase and play games and additional content.

Subscription to online services: Nintendo Switch Online members will be able to enjoy online online battles/cooperation, cloud save backup, and a library of classic games and exclusive games exclusively for members.

The opening of local eShop and Online will solve the long-standing pain points of local players. In the past, because there was no localized eShop, players could only bind their accounts to other regions and faced many troubles such as exchange rate conversion, inconvenient payment, and regional content differences. The opening of official services will bring players a seamless experience consistent with major global markets.

The launch of this service is not an isolated incident. It stems from Nintendo's Southeast Asia market expansion strategy announced earlier this year. The company has previously announced the establishment of a regional headquarters in Singapore and plans to set up a branch in Thailand, aiming to "accelerate business throughout Southeast Asia."The simultaneous launch of core online services in the three countries is the first major achievement of this strategy, and its advancement speed has exceeded market expectations.

It’s worth noting that in Nintendo’s initial announcement in April, the Philippines was among the first Southeast Asian countries planned to launch the service. However, in this announcement, the Philippines was not included in the starting list on November 18 along with the other three countries.Nintendo added in the announcement that the company is “working hard” to launch related services in the Philippines, and the specific launch date will be announced later.
