Avalanche Studio issued a statement on its official website to respond to the matter: "In the past few years, Avalanche Studio has worked with the Xbox Game Studio distribution department to develop Smuggling. Currently, the active development of the project has been suspended and we are evaluating its future direction.

Before the cancellation of development, Microsoft's global studios had undergone a series of cancellations and layoffs in June.Following these adjustments, the Microsoft CEO said "Microsoft is thriving" and stressed that the company will focus on the field of artificial intelligence.
