"Silent Hill F" was originally planned to be set in the reality of "Silent Hill", but a huge landmark ruined the atmosphere of the game.
In an interview with "Famitong" during the 2025 comic exhibition, game screenwriter Dragon Knight 07 explained that he had considered setting the game background in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan.
"Shizuoka" literally means "Silent Hill". Dragon Knight 07 believes that this will be a perfect setting for the first "Silent Hill" game set in Japan. However, he soon realized that since Mount Fuji is partly located in Shizuoka Prefecture, and this huge layered volcano dominates the prefecture's landform, this does not match the overall atmosphere of the game.
“When creating stories, we first want all staff to have a common understanding of the stage set by the game, and to achieve this we build images based on real locations.
In fact, because this is Silent Hill, we have really visited Shizuoka Prefecture for an inspection as a potential location for filming. However, when we actually got there, we found that the presence of Mount Fuji from Shizuoka was too strong and it didn't feel suitable for the stage of Silent Hill.
Mount Fuji covers the entire area, and its presence overshadows the foggy atmosphere in the work. After inspecting several other shooting locations, I found the grid-like town landscape of Kinshan Town very interesting, so I made this suggestion.”
