PS6 early specification leak: performance reaches RTX 5080 level

Oil pipe blogger "Moore's Law is Dead" released the hardware specifications of the PS6 and PS6 handheld consoles that were leaked in the early days.Previously, "Moore's Law is Dead" accurately leaked the hardware specifications of the PS5 Pro. Every detail is correct, even including the PS5 Pro FP16 reaching 67TF, which was later officially confirmed by SIE.

PS6早期规格泄露:性能达到RTX 5080水平

PS6 - Codename "Orion"

8 Zen 6 (or higher) cores

40-48+ RDNA 5 calculation unit, frequency 3GHz+

160W TBP

160-bit or 192-bit wide, equipped with GDDR7, 32GT/s+

Rasterization performance is 3 times that of PS5 (ray tracing is expected to be higher)

Chiplet design, may use Navi 5 desktop core

Price is lower than PS5 Pro

Backward compatible with PS5 and PS4

Highly emphasize cost control and keep power consumption below PS5

It is expected to be mass-produced in mid-2027 and will be released in autumn 2027 or early 2028

PS6早期规格泄露:性能达到RTX 5080水平

PS6 handheld console - codenamed "Canis"

4 Zen 6c cores

12-20 RDNA 5 calculation units, frequency 1.6-2GHz

15W TBP

128-bit bus, LPDDR5X-7500+

Rasterization performance is 0.5 times that of PS5 (ray tracing is expected to be higher)

Canis should perform better than ROG Xbox Ally X, but not a "performance monster"

Single chip 3nm chip

Backward compatible with PS5 and PS4

MicroSD card slot, M.2 SSD slot

Tactile vibration

Double microphone

touchscreen

USB-C video output

It is expected to be mass-produced in mid-2027 and will be released in autumn 2027 or early 2028

PS6早期规格泄露:性能达到RTX 5080水平

There are some doubts about these leaked PS6 information. Not to mention that it was released too early in 2027 (Former SIE executive Shuhei Yoshida confirmed it will be released in 2028), take a look at the 160W TBP (significantly lower than PS5) but is equipped with 40-48 RDNA5 computing units (less than PS5 Pro, but RDNA5, not RDNA2/3), but can achieve 3 times (300%) grating performance of PS5 (PS5 Pro is only 45% higher than PS5). This goal is "too radical" in 2027.

In addition, AMD has already used UDNA name instead of RDNA5.

300% grating performance will put the PS6 on the same level as the RTX 5080, which is stronger than the 7900 XTX and 9070 XT.

Depending on the ray tracing performance of UDNA/RDNA5, this may be sufficient to achieve default path tracing.

But if the game must be able to run on the PS6 handheld console at the same time, it means that there is no exclusive game developed from scratch only for path tracking, which is quite disappointing for some players.
