Recently, Microsoft has carried out unprecedented major layoffs, and many highly-watched games, such as "Perfect Dark", "Everwild" and ZeniMax, an unannounced MMORPG, have been quietly listed on the cancellation list. There are also reports that Hideo Kojima previously claimed to cooperate with Microsoft's horror game "OD", which will cancel funding. Now things have turned around, though, and according to Windows Central, the game is still being developed by Kojima Studios in partnership with Xbox.

However, Microsoft's current strategy even makes heavyweight partnerships full of variables. Many of the cut projects are seen internally as “bright prospects,” but apparently they were sacrificed for a $80 billion investment in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Many second-party games, i.e. games developed by external studios but funded by Xbox, have also been reportedly terminated. The fate of projects like Contraband is still unclear.

Therefore, the reason why OD is retained in the project library may not be due to its clear release plan - but more because Microsoft does not want to end its collaboration with Hideo Kojima too soon. However, if OD remains so vague in communication for the next few months, it will face the same fate as other "invisible" projects. In the end, Hideo Kojima might have the option to continue developing "OD" without Microsoft's support.
The above news is all speculation. Before the official gives clear news or the game is fully released, the fate of "OD" is uncertain.
