"Eye of Heart" developer has 300 employees receiving emails for layoff risk notification

About 300 UK employees have received emails "at risk of layoffs" after Build A Rocket Boy, a developer of Eye of Heart, announced layoffs last week.

According to IGN, some sources said the emails were also sent to PlayFusion employees.Build A Rocket Boy acquired the company last year for an undisclosed amount.

Sources also said Build A Rocket Boy CEO Leslie Benzis addressed employees in a "short video conference" earlier this week, hinting that the Eye of Heart will have a so-called "re-sale" and that the "study of the studio and the game" was caused by "internal and external disruptors."

Co-CEO Mark Gerhard previously claimed in the official Q&A session of "Eye of Heart" that someone "deliberately" undermined Build A Rocket Boy and "Eye of Heart".

"There are people who don't want to see Leslie or Build A Rocket Boy succeeding, who are deliberately destroying the game and studio. It's easy to see that anything we post will be attacked by robots and repeated replies."

Last week, Build A Rocket Boy confirmed the rumor of layoffs in a statement to the media.

"We made a difficult decision to inform the hard-working team that Build A Rocket Boy will make some internal adjustments. Although we are working to reassign positions to employees affected by these adjustments, unfortunately we will initiate formal negotiation processes that may lead to layoffs.

"This decision was not made lightly and we are committed to dealing with this process with transparency, fairness and respect, respecting all employees. We will provide the team with details in the coming weeks."
