Switch 2 has been listed as one of the events platforms for Capcom's Professional Tour

Capcom has officially listed Nintendo Switch 2 as one of its Capcom Pro Tour event platforms.

Capcom reportedly added relevant terms to its official rules of the match. The original text of the rules is as follows (released by Capcom's official website):

Capcom's game "Street Fighter 6" supports PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Nintendo Switch™ 2 platforms. The participating versions must include: (1) all updates, patches and levels released before the championship; (2) character packages released within 7 days before the championship start date.If the character is released on January 1, it will be available for events starting from January 8.

Switch 2已经被列为卡普空职业巡回赛的赛事平台之一

The rules also state that players must have a PlayStation, Xbox, Steam or Nintendo account and can only use one account to participate.

As mentioned earlier, the Switch 2's ability to run Street Fighter 6 has been proven: not only does the graphics and performance perform well, but its low latency features are also suitable for competitive competitions. This provides the possibility for Switch 2 to host the Street Fighter 6 event, but the actual probability of landing may not be very high.

Of course, if the contestants use portable/home hybrid consoles, the event construction will be easier.Even in dock mode, Switch 2 saves more space than other hosts and PCs, and heat dissipation management is easier.

The problem is that event organizers may be reluctant to give up PlayStation, the mainstream platform of the Fighting Game Community (FGC).Objectively speaking, there are logistical challenges in adjusting the platform: players are used to using PlayStation 5-compatible controllers when preparing for the Capcom Professional Tour this year.

On the other hand, calls for "escape from PlayStation" are gradually emerging, and at least some events should not rely entirely on the platform.Last month, it was reported that FGC players criticized the EVO organizer for the overheating of the PlayStation 5 console that affected the showdown in this year's "Crime Equipment: Fighting" finals.

Players who advocate turning to PC believe that PCs perform better than consoles when running fighting games. But at present, the event organizers are generally unwilling to give up PS5.Will Capcom dominate the Switch 2's professional tour? Given the strong start of the Switch 2, they may seize this opportunity.
