In 1997, the domestic RTS game "Between Life and Death" developed by Yao Zhen was born. With its unique architectural and military design, it quickly captured the hearts of countless players.
Unfortunately, in that era of pirated copies, "Between Life and Death" and its sequel failed to achieve sustained development sales, which eventually led to its related derivative works being cut in half.
Fortunately, this failure did not hit Yao Zhen's creative enthusiasm. After 28 years, Yao Zhen returned to steam with his new hardcore real-time strategy (RTS) game "Star Battlefield"!
As a complete achievement of StarCraft 2, the player who has passed the highest difficulty of the spiritual ending, the author immediately experienced "Star Battlefield". To be honest, this game is indeed hardcore, but it does not simply increase the difficulty by numerical values.
The following are my personal game experiences for your reference only.
If you want to win a hard-core RTS game like "Star Battlefield", it is not possible to rely on hard and recklessness. Except for the tutorial level in Chapter 1, other levels require targeted strategic intelligence.
Before formulating a strategy, you must first understand what you need to do at the beginning of "Star Battlefield".After completing the second chapter, the first building to be prepared is the mining machine. Only 50 printing materials are required, and the energy source continuously provides the base with printing materials.
After the construction is completed, do not rush to use Earth coins to add "mine barrels" to the mining machine to open, because the printing materials that can be collected are limited. After the nearby mining is completed, the "mine barrels" will go to a further location for mining, which is easy to be destroyed because of encountering enemies on the road.
The general process is to build a mining machine first, and then collect the printed materials back to 100 through tasks or scavengers, mineral buckets and other units to create a "deep space club".
The main function of this facility is to recruit crew members. The most helpful thing for combat is crew members with repairman entries. No matter what mecha it is, as long as it is equipped with crew members with repairman entries, it can gain the ability to repair in battle.
After spending Kuaishui to recruit 1 repairman, we cooperated with the original "Li" and "Rihak" crew members, and we had 3 self-repair mechas that could consume the enemy's combat power by placing the positioning during combat.
If these "repairmen" are simply placed on ordinary mechas, their combat performance will not be significantly improved. But if we use high-level components to strengthen the mecha and then configure repairmen for it, then this mecha will have the ability to fight against one against many.
This is also the fundamental reason why the "deep space club" needs to be built as soon as possible at the beginning. The more "repairmen" there are, the more units that can be micro-operated. They are instantly injured by enemy artillery fire. As long as they are not destroyed, they can temporarily withdraw from the front line and wait for repairs.
This is the fixed process of starting the game. Next, we need to adapt flexibly according to the tasks of each battle.
Take the fourth level as an example. At the beginning, we were asked to occupy and defend a lighthouse, and there were no scattered supply boxes on the field. Then what we have to do is obvious, send the defense tower to the front line through the "armored platform"!
Compared with the defense tower, the armored platform has a lower overhead and is faster to build, which is very suitable for the mothership to quickly expand the structure outward. Once we expand the building structure near the lighthouse, we can start building the defense tower.
Unlike other RTSs, "Star Battlefield" has a real model collision volume, which requires us to choose the location and shooting range for building defense towers, otherwise the famous scene of "hit attacking friendly forces" will occur. Although hitting friendly forces will not cause damage to them, blocked shells will also not cause damage to the enemy.
In terms of the choice of turrets, it is recommended to install a battle flag turret in addition to the turrets that are connected to the enemy at the front. This is a multi-functional turret that can face air and ground, and the damage is higher than that of the basic combat mecha ghosts. The fork at the forefront is recommended to install Zhurong, which can cause a lot of damage to crowded ground units and is very suitable for directly defending key positions such as bridgeheads.
Once the enemy launches an attack on the lighthouse, remember to upgrade the radar to the defense tower first. In addition to improving the vision range of the defense tower, it can also increase the attack range of the turret. The most important thing is that upgrading radar and downgrading radar will not waste any material, but will increase the power consumption of the defense tower after upgrading the radar. Just lower the level back after repelling the enemy.
Like mechas, the turret can also be upgraded through equipment. The combat performance of the turret with crew members and module upgrades is far better than that of the whiteboard turret. When we organized a mecha team of mechas on the front line with high-level turrets, we had the strength to fight ten!
At this time, you can consider building a "resource recycling bin", where the garbage guy who recycles battlefield spoils can be produced. His working method is similar to that of a mine barrel, except that what he collects is not resources but resource boxes that can be stored for use.
In addition to obtaining the corresponding types of resources, you can also obtain additional props. The resource box with the greatest impact on frontline combat is the AI chip box that can open up equipment upgrade components.
The equipment level of these chip boxes is the same as that of the chip box itself. By recycling the chip box on the battlefield, more advanced equipment can be produced to create more high-level special mechas.
It should be noted that the trash man himself is a logistics unit that can shuttle back and forth on the front line. He also has weaknesses such as slow movement speed, low health, and inability to fight back. He is easily destroyed outside of the installation of flying equipment that provides additional movement speed.A better approach is to equip it with a crew member with both a pilot and a repairman entry. These crew members can use star coins to refresh in the "Deep Space Club" and then recruit with fast water.
When there are a large number of supply boxes on the spot, we can also manually operate the scavengers to quickly pick it up. Its efficiency is much faster than the garbage guy who will return to the flight after picking up a supply box. The disadvantage is that we need to operate it manually.By the way, the scavengers themselves are much harder than the trash guys, and the scavengers have the ability to fly and are dual-purpose mechas. In some special circumstances, the scavengers can be used to directly bypass a large number of enemies and land in the rear to occupy the lighthouse.
After obtaining control of the lighthouse, use the lighthouse's SOS system to summon support and replenish troops on site, giving the enemy a wave of two bunkers. The only disadvantage of this tactic is that the reinforcements summoned by the SOS system do not arrive at the battlefield in an instant. We need to wait for dozens of seconds before we can see the transport plane arrive at the front line with reinforcements.
After mastering these skills and using them flexibly, you will find that the combat difficulty of "Star Battlefield" is not very high. The continuous enemy is just a production unit that constantly sends you supply boxes. After relying on the strategy of maintaining war, a group of high-level mechas that can be repaired by themselves, no matter how many enemies are, they will only be unparalleled for you.
Of course, in the trial and error stage before mastering these skills, "Star Battlefield" is indeed more difficult than most RTSs on the market, but it is not a work that blindly pursues difficulty. After players understand most of the mechanics in the game, Star Battlefield will go from a painful soul game to a refreshing game of mowing grass.
A base that can flexibly disguise according to the situation, a recovery mechanism for fighting to support battles, and a setting for customizing the mechas in each game makes the later experience of "Star Battlefield" excellent.
If you also like RTS games, you might as well add the game to your wishlist on steam. Currently, "Star Battlefield" has been logged into the steam platform and has enabled early experience and trial demo. If you are interested, you can experience it.
