According to Deadline exclusive report, Amazon MGM Pictures won the fierce copyright battle and won the film adaptation rights of Hazelight Studio's popular game "Double Shadowland".
The film will be directed by "The Magical Bad Witch" director Zhu Haowei and starring Sydney Sweeney, and will eventually reach a deal for a price of just over $2 million.
During this year's GDC, the first news of the movie adaptation was reported, and Sony and Amazon competed immediately.In May, Sweeney will play one of the two protagonists, confirmed to be written by Deadpool and Wolverine screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, and Sweeney will play one of the two protagonists - the second game IP project she took over in a week after announcing her participation in Sega's "Out Run" adaptation.
The transaction means that Amazon MGM also holds the film and television copyrights of Hazelight's two representative works "Two Players" and "Two Shadowlands".
According to EA data, "Double Shadow Wonderland" has sold nearly 4 million copies since its release in March to early May. Although it is still a gap from the previous work's 20 million sales, the joining of Hollywood's popular movie stars and directors may help the game sales break through a new milestone.
