The Witcher 3 is one of the most memorable RPG games, and many people love it.Recently, CDPR co-CEO Michał Nowakowski was interviewed by foreign media PCGamer. He revealed that during the promotional stage of "The Witcher 3", some retailers were not optimistic about the game. They believed that CDPR did not have the strength of B Society.
Nowakowski said: "At that time, "The Elder Scrolls 5" had been released, and "Game of Thrones" began to be broadcast on HBO. So every demo ended with the sentence "The Elder Scrolls 5" met "Game of Thrones"... This is a great slogan, and everyone was impressed after listening to it."
Nowakowski continued: "We spent two years negotiating with distributors, manufacturers and retailers. We have visited many times across the United States, like meeting people in Arkansas to meet Walmart, people in Dallas to meet Gamestop, and so on. Some retailers are outspoken about their skepticism. They like our philosophy and vision, but I still remember someone who worked at Gamestop and later moved to Walmart. He said, "I like you guys, but you are not B. You don't have much experience, and the last game you made is good, but it's limited in size, so it's unlikely that the new game will be successful."
Still, Nowakowski didn't resent him, saying he understood the man's idea and admitted that "The Witcher 3" was difficult to sell at the time."He's a smart guy. To be honest, I'm not surprised by his comments... He knows the industry very well. If I were from his perspective, as an experienced buyer, I might have made similar judgments."
