Naughty Dog cuts 3A masterpiece again, only two new works are left in the development stage

Sony's first-party ace studio Naughty Dog is experiencing an unprecedented creative crisis. After the multiplayer mode of "The Last of Us" which has been invested in development for many years two years ago, the phenomenon-level studio that once created the Uncharted Seas series recently canceled a one-player game project that has been developed for a year. This may be the reason why ten-year veteran Vinit Agarwal left.

According to well-known industry whistleblower DanielRPK, the cancelled 3A-level single-player project was launched in early 2023, with Agarwal, who once led the multiplayer mode of "The Last of Us", as the creative director. The project was regarded as a strategic transformation work for the studio to get rid of classic IP dependence, but it was suddenly cut in half in March this year.

Fortunately, people familiar with the matter revealed that although the death of two consecutive key projects directly led to the loss of core members, Naughty Dog is currently in the development stage of "Interstellar: The Prophet of Heresy" and another undisclosed new work.

Given the recent setbacks in PlayStation's real-time service game strategy, the player group is inevitably disappointed that Naughty Dog's project has died.Perhaps it was a wiser choice to continue to polish "The Last of Us Online" instead of giving up completely.
