Its rival Microsoft recently announced it will raise the price of $10 for the new Xbox first-party game that was previously sold at $69.99.After the price increase, starting from this year's Christmas game lineup, the full-price 3A game developed by the company's first-party studio will be priced at $79.99.According to Microsoft, these changes reflect rising development costs and changing market dynamics.
Similarly, Nintendo has announced plans to adopt a "floating pricing" strategy for first-party games on its Switch 2 platform.The company will comprehensively consider each game, including the development process of the game, the breadth and depth of the gameplay, the durability of the gameplay, and the repeatability of the gameplay experience, to determine the appropriate price of the game.The main first-party exclusive games on the Nintendo Switch 2 platform, such as the upcoming Mario Kart: World, the next Nintendo Stars Brawl game, the next Legend of Zelda series, or the next 3D Mario platform game, will be priced at $79.99.On the other hand, common Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive games, such as Donkey Kong and Star Kirby, will be available for a standard price of $69.99.
It's only a matter of time before Sony modifys the pricing of its PlayStation first-party games.The updated prices of "Solf Hoof Mountain" and "Death Stranding 2" in the Brazilian PlayStation store may indicate that similar situations will occur in other regions.
