Nintendo has just released its financial results for fiscal 2025.As the June 5 release date approaches, demand for Switch 2 continues to surge, especially in Japan.Nintendo is “working to strengthen production to meet demand” and predicts global Switch 2 hardware sales of 15 million units and software sales of 45 million units in fiscal 2026.
However, during an online press conference on May 8, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa revealed concerns about the U.S. market and the future profitability of the Switch 2."The sales price of a single unit is high, and there are corresponding obstacles. Our goal is to launch products comparable to the Switch. These "corresponding obstacles" include concerns about US tariffs, which have always been the largest market for Nintendo Switch. Shuntaro Furukawa expressed concerns about the possible impact of the US tariffs on Switch 2 and the consumption capacity of the American people.
He added: "If the prices of daily necessities such as food rise, then people spend less money on gaming consoles. If we adjust the price of the Switch 2 to deal with tariffs, this may reduce demand."
Currently, Nintendo has notified US customers that they have submitted a Switch 2 reservation application to the My Nintendo Store, and due to the huge demand, it cannot ensure on-time delivery.
