According to Nikkei Asia, a major supplier of Nintendo and Apple has issued an internal assessment warning that domestically produced Switch 2 hosts will face 145% U.S. tariffs when shipped to the U.S.
Although phones and some computers have received tariff exemptions, game consoles are exceptions, and Nintendo has previously suspended pre-orders for Switch 2 in the United States and Canada, leading many people to suspect that Nintendo will increase the price of Switch 2 in the United States.Previously, Nintendo officially announced that the Switch 2 will be priced at $449.99 in the United States.
Nikkei Asia said that most of the Switch 2 production capacity is produced in China, and only a "small part" is produced in Vietnam.
Previously, Nintendo's North American head Doug Bowser said that the company has spent months shipping hundreds of thousands of Switch 2 hosts to the United States.
