Last week (2.27), SE announced management changes and released an updated list of company name executives. In other personnel changes, Final Fantasy 14 director and producer Naoki Yoshida appears to have been removed from the SE board list.
Yoshida became an executive of SE in 2015 and was later promoted to executive director in 2018.At the time of writing, SE official website company preview still lists Yoshida as a director there, but SE's latest announcement on February 27, 2025 only lists it as an executive, indicating that he has been demoted from the position.
However, Yoshida is also likely to leave the board of directors out of voluntary action.Despite being promoted for his huge contribution to Final Fantasy 14, he doesn't particularly like the role.According to reports, he told Dutch media NRC in 2023 that "I don't want to be on the board, making the game more fun."
Apparently, Yoshida even tried to resign as executive director at the time, but SE did not allow it.In this case, his new position change may actually mean that he will get what he wants in the end, although it's all just speculation for the moment.
