According to the official recommendation of the International Olympic Committee IOC Media, the first e-sports game will be held in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia in 2027, and the road to the first e-sports Olympics will begin this year.
The IOC said on Tuesday that the first esports Olympics will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in two years, as part of a 12-year agreement signed with the country last year (2024).
The IOC has been focusing on esports for many years and has set up a dedicated committee to find opportunities to attract the younger generation who play games.As its traditional audience grows older, the governing body is trying to connect with the younger generation of potential Olympic fans.
In 2021, the International Olympic Committee developed the Olympic Virtual Series, a pilot project in the field of esports, and then last year the International Olympic Committee and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement to host the Olympic esports competition.

A six-member committee has been established to determine which games will be part of the first esports Olympics.
Saudi Arabia has invested billions of dollars in sporting events including football, F1 racing, boxing and golf.
