Nintendo has now confirmed that the Switch 2 has added a "C" button and seems to suggest support for mouse control, but the specific details about the two are still unclear.
In the official Switch 2 trailer, Nintendo showed off the Switch successor for the first time and showed off the entire machine's appearance many times.
The video also shows an extra button on the Joy-Con handle on the right, which was called the "C button" in several previous leaks (many of which are from third-party peripheral manufacturers).
However, in Nintendo's official video, there is no mark on this button at all, while the previously leaked rendering shows the letter C on the button.
It is possible that this button will eventually be printed with C letters, but Nintendo may not be officially announced at the Switch 2 exclusive face-to-face meeting on April 2.
Recent speculation suggests that the C button may be responsible for some kind of community function, such as voice chat, but Nintendo's trailer does not confirm any relevant information.
In addition, Nintendo also suggested that the Switch 2's Joy-Con controller may support mouse control.
The Switch 2 trailer seems to show the Joy-Con handle is attached to the grip first and then slides on the ground, much like the usage of the mouse, then separates from the grip and connects to the Switch 2 host.
This further validates previous reports that at least one new Joy-Con handle has an optical sensor built in, similar to the technology used by most optical mice.
Therefore, the Switch 2's Joy-Con controller is likely to support mouse control, but these contents will not be truly confirmed until April 2nd releases the full details.
